What is it?
The FDA 510(k) is a formal clearance issued by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration allowing a medical device to be legally marketed in the United States. To receive a 510(k), the manufacturer must demonstrate that the device is substantially equivalent to an existing legally marketed medical device in terms of safety, performance, and intended use.
Hyperbaric chambers that are intended for medical treatment in the United States must have FDA 510(k) clearance before they can be legally sold for medical use.
Why It Matters
FDA 510(k) clearance is much more than paperwork. It demonstrates that the chamber has undergone a comprehensive regulatory review and meets the standards required for use as a medical device.
A cleared chamber provides confidence that:
The chamber has been evaluated by the FDA.
The device is manufactured under FDA Quality System Regulations (21 CFR Part 820).
Safety, labeling, performance, and intended use have been reviewed.
The chamber can be legally used in a medical practice in the United States.
Patients and providers are using equipment designed specifically for medical applications.
Without FDA clearance, a chamber may not legally be marketed for treating medical conditions, regardless of the manufacturer's marketing claims.
Why Customers Should Care
Purchasing a hyperbaric chamber is a long-term investment.
Choosing a chamber with FDA 510(k) clearance helps protect the facility by providing:
Regulatory compliance
Greater confidence for physicians and medical directors
Improved acceptance by hospitals and healthcare organizations
Stronger documentation for accreditation and inspections
Increased long-term resale value
Many insurance carriers, healthcare systems, and medical professionals expect equipment to carry FDA clearance before incorporating it into patient care.
Talking Points for Sales Representatives
When discussing FDA clearance with a customer:
Explain that FDA 510(k) clearance is required for all hyperbaric chambers marketed in the United States.
Emphasize that this is evidence of regulatory review, not simply a marketing claim.
Help customers understand the difference between medical-grade equipment and Temu knockoff chambers.
If comparing products, encourage customers to ask every manufacturer for a copy of their FDA 510(k) clearance.
If a manufacturer cannot readily provide their FDA clearance documentation, that should prompt additional questions.

Pressure Relief Valves
The Flow-Through Air Valves automatically regulate chamber pressure by allowing compressed air to exit the chamber at a preset pressure.
Available in fixed settings from 1.3 ATA to 3.0 ATA, these valves provide smooth, consistent pressure control while enhancing patient safety and reducing operator workload.
Each chamber includes five customer-selected valves, with additional preset valves available for purchase at any pressure to support different treatment protocols and clinical applications.

Vent Valve
The Vent Valve is used during the final stage of decompression to safely release the remaining air pressure from the chamber, allowing the door to be opened more quickly once atmospheric pressure is reached.
It also serves as an important safety feature by allowing the operator to rapidly vent excess oxygen from the chamber should oxygen concentrations approach unsafe levels, helping maintain a safe treatment environment.
The vent filters air leaving the chamber and the filtration element can be replaced as needed.

Control Panel Console
The Control Panel is the operator's primary interface for monitoring and controlling every treatment. It houses the Air Inlet and Air Outlet control valves, Flow-Through System controls and pressure gauge, oxygen inlet and oxygen flow meter, chamber pressure gauge, and the oxygen concentration monitor, allowing the operator to continuously monitor chamber pressure, airflow, and oxygen levels to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient treatments.
Each component on the Control Panel Console will be explained here.

Air Inlet / Air Outlet Valves
The Air Inlet and Air Outlet Valves give the operator precise control over chamber pressurization and depressurization. The Air Outlet Valve is primarily used to decompress the chamber with a precise rate and allows for more rapid decompression as needed.
Conveniently located on the control panel and inside the chamber as well , the Air Outlet Valve can be operated from both inside and outside the chamber, allowing either the hyperbaric technician or occupant to safely control airflow when needed during treatment or in an emergency.

Oxygen Flow Meter
The Oxygen Flow Meter provides precise control of the medical oxygen delivered to the patient during treatment. Mounted on the exterior control panel, it allows the hyperbaric technician to accurately adjust and monitor oxygen flow without opening the chamber, ensuring safe and effective oxygen administration throughout the treatment.
Its exterior location also provides immediate access to shut off the oxygen supply in the event of an emergency, allowing for a rapid response while maintaining the ability to visualize the patient and ultimatly increased patient safety.

Chamber Door / Door Seal
The chamber door is designed to open inward, meaning it is held securely closed by the pressure inside the chamber rather than by mechanical latches. This simple, pressure-assisted design provides reliable operation while allowing the door to open easily once the chamber has safely returned to atmospheric pressure.
The replaceable door seal creates an airtight barrier between the door and chamber, preventing air leaks during treatment. Because the seal is a serviceable component, it can be inspected, maintained, and replaced as part of routine chamber maintenance to ensure long-term performance..

Chamber Hull Ground Wire
The Chamber Ground Wire is a critical safety feature required by NFPA 99 to help prevent the buildup of static electricity around the hyperbaric chamber. During installation, the chamber is connected to the facility's grounding system to ensure less than one ohm of impedance, providing a safe path for electrical discharge and reducing the risk of ignition in an oxygen-enriched environment.

Patient Grounding Point
The Patient Grounding Point provides a dedicated connection for the patient's grounding wrist strap during treatment. Required by NFPA 99 for all Class B monoplace hyperbaric chambers, this grounding system helps dissipate static electricity from the patient, reducing the risk of static discharge and enhancing safety within the oxygen-enriched treatment environment.

Communication Pass-Through Port
The Communication Pass-Through Port provides a safe connection for approved hyperbaric communication devices during treatment. Designed with a dual USB-C pass-through system, it allows microphones and speakers to operate inside the chamber without introducing batteries or powered electronics, enabling clear communication while maintaining compliance with hyperbaric safety standards.

Antimicrobial Vinyl Mattress
The Antimicrobial Medical-Grade Vinyl Mattress provides a comfortable and supportive treatment surface while meeting the demands of a clinical hyperbaric environment. Constructed from durable, antimicrobial medical-grade vinyl, it complies with NFPA 99 smolder rate requirements and California fire protection standards, while supporting patient comfort, infection control, and long-term durability.

Chamber Skirts
The Chamber Skirts provide a clean, professional appearance by enclosing the area beneath the chamber and concealing wiring and utility connections. The updated skirt design also incorporates an integrated decorative lighting system, enhancing the chamber's overall aesthetic while maintaining easy access for installation and routine maintenance.

Acrylic Windows
The Acrylic Viewports provide excellent visibility into the chamber, allowing operators to continuously observe the patient throughout treatment. The increased number of viewports enhances patient monitoring while allowing more natural light into the chamber, creating a brighter, more open treatment environment that improves both safety and patient comfort.
Pictures, videos and literature to aid in the sales process.
